CareerBytes: JobGals to Host Free Jobseeker Chat

Zoe

On Tuesday, October 10th at 10 am pacific time, we will be hosting a free jobseeker chat for anyone interested in getting advice on boosting your current job search.  Frustrated with not getting responses to your resume submissions?  Stuck on finding new places to look for the position of your dreams?  Wondering about the best ways to network?

During this session titled “Wake Up Your Job Search: How to Jumpstart a Dead-End Hunt for the Perfect Job”; we will personally address questions you have about starting or reviving a job search gone wrong.  Bring your toughest situation and we’ll help you sort through.  Between us we have 14 years of software and technical recruiting expertise that can help you crack the code on your job search.

If you are interested in joining us for this lively session, you can register in advance here.  This tool requires that you have a Microsoft .NET Passport or Windows Live ID.  It will also ask for your email address and a nickname. Please note that we will not have access to your email address* and you should feel free to register for this chat anonymously.  Your privacy is important to us!

We look forward to having the opportunity to talk with you more about your job search – see you on the 10th!

*Important update: In order to remain anonymous, you need to make sure that the box under "Check Your E-mail Settings" that says "Allow other group members to see my e-mail address" is NOT checked.

I'd like to sign up, but it asks me to associate a .net passport with my windows xp user account.  I have the passport account, but don't really want to associate it with my xp user account.  I have no objections to signing in with passport, just associating it with the xp user account.  Is there any way around this?

Thanks,
Fred

Hi Fred - I am going to have to check into this further and get back to you.  We didn't have to associate our xp user accounts so not sure why it is asking you for this information.  Would you email me separately (zoe at jobsyntax.com) and tell me exactly the steps you were taking to sign into the chat so I can reproduce the error?  I'll get back to you shortly.

Thanks!

Hi Fred - just an update on the situation.  Apparently, when signing up you have to do this association.  For some folks, they may have done it a long time ago when and it may not make this request now.  We completely understand if you are not comfortable make the association, but I don't believe there is any way around it.

If you have suggestions for other chat tools that we could use as a solution that may not require this level of information, please let us know.

Thanks!

I'm surprised the association needs to be made.  Any other webinar that I attend I use my passport to log in, but never have had to associate it with my XP user id.  My experience with chats is more limited.  I don't quite understand what my local machine login has to do with participating in an internet event.

I wish I did as well!  Again, not sure why it's asking you for this information though I want to assure you it's not one of our requirements.
