Doesn’t it always seem like blogging is a cyclical activity? Some days, you think of 10 different topics you want to write about, and then other days, nothing. I’ve been on the nothing side of the cycle for a while. Work, life, planning for a dog birthday party. Those things just seem to get in the way sometimes.
Next week, Zoe and I are going to update you on some exciting things going on here in JobSyntax land, but I thought I’d use today just to get back on the grid.
You may have heard we got a little bit of snow and ice here in the Seattle area. My Mom tells me everyone back home in TN is asking her how I’m coping with the weather. :) We didn’t really get that much – at least where I live, but the roads did get super icy so the entire city was shut down. And since I work from a home office and had to share my internet connection with thousands of telecommuting workers this week, that meant my productivity also took a hit. Slow loading of web pages is one thing, but since I have Vonage (usually love it), I couldn’t even talk on the phone for a couple days.
All this snow came on the heels of Thanksgiving, for which the Ledgard family went to Whistler. Long-time readers: ) know that Whistler is one of our favorite places. We head up there a few times a year, and this trip certainly did not disappoint. The snow was “choice,” and we got to spend tons of quality time with lots of friends. I can’t ask for a better US Thanksgiving in Canada. As you probably also know, the Vancouver / Whistler area is host for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Duncan, our younger dog, has decided to try his paw at competing in a new sport … Dog Bobsledding. Think he can make it?
And speaking of dogs, next weekend marks our annual dog birthday party! Can’t wait! Josh and I both pride ourselves of being pretty darn good party hosts, and the dog birthday party is our flagship occasion. Why a dog birthday party? Why not? Before I was born, my parents used to throw rockin’ parties for their dog, Lady. As I was growing up, I used to look at the pictures and vow that one day I, too, would throw killer dog birthday parties. Well, this year marks our 5th party. Oliver is turning 5 (tomorrow actually. Happy birthday, Ver!), and little Duncan will be 3 in a few weeks. Of course, each birthday party has a theme, and this year’s theme is Pirates. Arrr! We make it a fun party for both adults and doggies, and we’re expecting our largest crowd yet this year. I’ve been planning for this party since September. No joke. Sad but true. So the costume is ready. The decorations are good to go. This weekend, I just need to focus on putting together the fine details in anticipation. I can’t wait!
Anyway, that’s what has been up with me.
Later gators. Have a good weekend! Woof!
