in the new year i need a vacation from my vacation

Zoe In preparation for the New Year and standard resolutions for a healthier lifestyle it's not uncommon for me to overindulge on everything - people, food, experiences, etc.  This year being no different from the others, I really pushed myself a little too hard over my time off.  Well, I take that back things are a little different this year given we have a new business and a new baby on the way.  Taking stock today, I realize that I need a vacation from my vacation!

We spent the time at home doing a number of errands and tasks around the house.  Mr. Zoe was quite the trooper dealing with my new found nesting instincts that have caused me to go a little crazy.  Mainly it's an urge to redecorate the entire house which has included painting nearly every, hanging new window treatments, buying (and arranging) new furniture, and cleaning out every cluttered space in the place (not that there were a ton to begin with).  With that whirlwind of activity we are nearly done and just have a few final touches to complete here and there turning our house into a cozy home.

We also spent time with friends, but rather then the hectic party-hopping we typically enjoy we mostly just mellowed with people.  And we spent a quiet New Year's Eve snuggled up watching the (delayed) ball drop from Times Square.

We, G and I, also spent a lot of time dealing with end of year business issues.  Not the least of which has been getting our finances in order and making sure that all our information in on file.  Gretchen has been a huge force in making this happen and there is no way that I could have done a tenth of what we accomplished this year without her.  We've had more ups then downs, but I wouldn't have wanted to share the joys and well honestly, some disappointments, with anyone else.

All in all, I am realizing that life is good and we are looking forward to a exciting new time in our lives personally and professionally over the next few months.

Wishing everyone out there a really great New Year!

Zoe
