SUMMARY:
Seeking a unique leader to build and manage our Data Governance program. The Data Governance Manager will establish and lead Client’s Data Governance Program to support the full spectrum of Data Governance, Master Data Management, Metadata Management, Data Protection and Data Quality. The position will focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards and practices, both at the department and organization-wide level, to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection of our data assets in order to meet overall business needs. The Data Governance Manager will play key managerial role in building and managing a fit-for-purpose team to support the data governance operations that power the effective use of core data assets from an operational, regulatory and analytics perspective across the organization. This role has a heavy focus on establishing a data governance operating model that facilitates a collaborative environment between data owners and stewards across the organization to ensure data is fit for use and while enhancing overall data literacy.
MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Develop an end-to-end enterprise data governance program from scope & pipeline management through data management discipline execution, monitoring and policy compliance.
- Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the company’s principal data assets.
- Roll out an enterprise-wide data governance discipline framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality, transparency, access, and the protection of sensitive data through modifications to organization behavior policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools, and data architecture.
- Adopt Data Quality: including critical data elements (CDEs), define a data quality framework and appropriate tools to measure.
- Establish Metadata by defining a framework, appropriate tools and success criteria.
- Administer key data governance operational processes including facilitating and coordinating the efforts of Data Governance Council, data owners and data stewards across the organization and communication of Data Governance program components and value to the organization.
- Partner with Business and IT Leaders to monitor for compliance of accountable resources to meeting data governance standards and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure that the data governance pipeline is aligned to the assigned business objectives.
- Develop and deliver data governance program educational, awareness, and mentoring materials.
- Coordinate governance and stewardship activities across business data areas, business data projects, and with business data stakeholders to ensure all efforts that utilize core data assets and data governance integrate effectively.
- Establish, maintain, and periodically review and recommend changes to data governance policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
- Establish Data management roadmap and build the data management office.
- Provide data management and governance guidance and best practices for Modern platforms like Big Data and Cloud technologies.
- Adopt Data Issue Management, including defining the workflow, tools and metrics
- Establish and implement data literacy program across the organization.
- Support the selection and implementation of appropriate tools, resourcing models, capabilities, educational approaches, attestation methods and on-going continuous improvements of the governance
- Supervises and coaches assigned staff to develop knowledge, skills, and abilities to maximize performance potential to support the company’s data governance. Provides regular feedback to staff on progress. Documents performance and completes performance review forms in a timely manner.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s in a Business, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or Computer Science discipline. Master’s preferred.
- 7+ years’ work experience in data governance management related role collaborating with all parts of the organization; emphasis on developing and implementing data standards, policies, practices, and procedures that lead to substantive improvement in data quality and integrity.
- Experience managing a team.
- Experience in building a Data Governance program from inception is preferred.
- Prior experience in leading definition, development and operations of data governance processes around following areas: Master Data Management, Data Policies, Data Catalog/Business Glossary, Data Quality, Metadata Management, Data Lineage, and Data Profiling/Modeling.
- Prior experience with data governance technology platforms, including platforms for data quality, data cataloging/business glossary, data profiling/modeling, metadata management, master data management, data lineage, and policy management.
- Experience in enterprise-wide data governance, policies, procedures, and implementation.
- Understanding of Master Data Management (MDM) and tools like Semarchy, Informatica, Reltio, Riversand, etc…
- Proven ability to work with business and analytics leaders to identify and align on workable business solutions to data quality requirements and challenges.
- Ability to successfully champion the role of data governance and how it enables tangible business value.
- Understanding of cloud fundamentals and managing data in the cloud.
- Client industry experience is a plus; including an understanding of related products, services, features, and regulations
- Demonstrated consulting skills, with change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and performance measurement.
- Expert interpersonal, written and verbal skills with proven ability to educate, inform, persuade, and achieve understanding and buy-in on data governance-related needs across different functions and levels.
- Experience in leading projects with a team-focused approach – with the ability to prioritize, organize and manage deadlines.

SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required.
