The Company

Fuzzy is a health and wellness pet company building for the pet parent. We’re changing the way pet parents think about caring for their pets, looking to empower the pet parent by putting caring for our pets on autopilot. At Fuzzy, we work every day to make veterinary care more accessible. Of the 200 million dogs and cats in the US, more than 100 million receive no veterinary care.

Through technology we’re creating a different type of relationship between vets and pet parents – one that is personal, empowering, and for the long haul.

The Role

Our Data Engineering team partners with teams across the company to help us build out the data foundation that will fuel analysis, insights, and models to help drive Fuzzy’s growth.

The team works across two main areas: (1) to develop pipelines and data models to help clean, understand, and enrich events and content; (2) to develop the data platform that facilitates data analysis, from data warehousing to data science and analytics. Given the variety of data and applications at Fuzzy, you will be collaborating with people and teams across the company. The ideal candidate will be data and data-quality driven, collaborative, and curious.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop data pipelines and data models to optimize for performance, quality, and scalability
  • Collaborate with data, engineering, and business teams to build tools and data marts that enable analytics
  • Develop testing and monitoring to improve data observability and data quality
  • Collaborate with team members to learn and improve together through query/code reviews and knowledge sharing
  • Partner with data science to build and deploy predictive models

What We Are Looking For

  • 4+ years of experience as a data engineer
  • Expertise in an object-oriented or functional language is required (we use Python)
  • Strong SQL skills are required (we use Snowflake as our warehouse)
  • Experience in at least two of the following three areas:
  • Orchestrating and scheduling data jobs (we have AWS and Airflow experience)
  • Developing within cloud environments (we’re an AWS shop)
  • Building data models and data marts within a data warehouse (we’re using dbt)
  • A keen attention to detail is required

We know that great work comes from great, and inclusive teams. At Fuzzy, we specifically look for individuals of varying strengths, skills, backgrounds, and ideas. We believe this gives us a competitive advantage to better serve our members and helps us all grow as Fuzzyrs and individuals.

We hire candidates of any race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital or family status, disability, veteran status, and any other status. Fuzzy is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance. If you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please let us know.
