We promote, enable, and advance the development of responsible public-interest technology so that everyone in Canada has access to inclusive, equitable, and responsive public services that meet them where they are.
We help governments and nonprofits deliver better digital products and services through co-development, capacity building, and user engagement. To do this, we assemble teams of ‘Code for Canada Collaborators’ to work shoulder-to-shoulder with public-interest partners using digital best practices, leaving them with new skills and an even better solution.
What you’ll do
As a Senior Product Manager, part of your role will be the expert practitioner with broad industry experience who can define and ensure best practices for the project and the stakeholders involved while influencing, leading and mentoring others.
You’ll be part of a cross-functional team to build a digital product that addresses a public service need.
As a team, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of the product development process. You will coordinate closely with internal IT teams to ensure that the product is well-positioned for long-term sustainment after the completion of your contract.
You’ll work shoulder to shoulder with public servants who are subject matter experts, learning from them about their domain and helping them understand the approaches, tools, and processes of digital teams.
The details
- Job type: full-time, 12 months
- Target start date: TBC- Candidates must pass the government security clearance process before confirming the start date. The security processing time can vary on the Partner, and based on Code for Canada’s other employees’ experience, it can range from six weeks to four months.
- Salary range: $125,000- $140,000.00
- Location: anywhere within Canada, ineligible to work outside of Canada for the term of the engagement.
- Note: Although a remote position, proof of vaccination against COVID-19 is required.
Whom we’re looking for:
Duties, Responsibilities & Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience in the following areas: UX (user needs) Technical skills, Facilitation skills, data acumen skills and analytical & testing skills (to determine product viability)
- Demonstrate an understanding and practical examples of the agile and lean best practices. By coaching and leading teams to determine the right approach in the light of the product life cycle phases, recognizing when it is right to move forward and when it is right to stop, and the required directions, tools or methods to adapt its approach depending on constraints.
- Understand Federal or Provincial government experience and ability to translate the business case to all stakeholders based on the users’ needs.
- Act with curiosity and reflect it with new ideas and innovative ways of working to achieve the proper outcomes challenging the team positively.
- Demonstrate a high level of technical skills looking for products’ benefit, ensuring the required integrations with other services by applying change management skills with the stakeholders involved.
- Responsible for acting as an escalation point for different types of issues, anticipating and working against those concerns at the right time by implementing problem-solving and negotiation skills.
- Plan and engage with the appropriate stakeholders at a particular stage in the project, ensuring the deliverable is relevant for the stakeholder and the project’s big picture.
- Demonstrate cultural competence by creating a learning environment to communicate technical concepts and explain them in abstract terms for all stakeholders to understand.
- Identify and implement solutions for assisted digital and apply knowledge to work with other digital, data and technology (DDaT) job families.
- Lead as an example and work collaboratively with all stakeholders by showing emotional intelligence, confidence and strong relationship management skills.
- Lead and manage internal processes and best practices for future product teams, acting as a coach and mentor for all team members, both C4C staff on the project and the Partners/ Bringing a new way of working to the Partner.
